What Is an Anal Pump?

How to Choose Your First Anal Pump

Buy on cup size and control first — the motor is a comfort feature, not the thing that makes a pump work.

1. Start with cup size

A small cup, roughly 2" across, concentrates the suction and is easier to seal. Wide cups spread the pull over more skin and feel gentler but need a better seal and more lube. Buy small first; the sensation is stronger, not weaker.

2. Insist on a release valve

The valve is the single most important part. A quick-release button or twist valve lets you drop the pressure instantly the moment anything feels tight, cold or numb. Avoid any pump that makes you wrestle the cup off.

3. Manual or automatic

How to Use an Anal Pump

Wash the cup, hose and bulb, then get comfortable and unhurried. Lube the rim generously and the opening itself — the lube is what makes the seal, and a dry rim will drag and pinch instead of pulling.

Seat the cup flat, then pump in short squeezes. Stop, wait, and feel what the pressure is doing before you add another squeeze. Warmth and tightness are the sensation you want; sharp pinching, tingling or numbness means release the valve immediately.

Keep the first sessions to five minutes and work up to ten or fifteen. Release the suction slowly, then give the area a minute before you move on to a plug or partnered play — it will be more sensitive than usual, so go easier than you normally would.

Care, Cleaning & Storage
